It is after the last catalytic converter.
There is no way to fix a catalytic converter for a 1987 Mercury Cougar, since it is a sealed and unrepairable item. Once it goes bad, you must jack up the car, unbolt the old converter, then put a new one in its place and bolt it in.
On a 1995 Mercury Cougar ( V8 and V6 ) Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine Sensor 1 would be close to the engine before the exhaust passes through the catalytic converter
Means that the o2 sensors have detected that the catalytic converter is not handling the emissions of the engine for some reason. Diagnose, don't guess as the parts can be expensive.
Our 2000 mercury cougar does not start up and stay running. We were told the catalytic converters went out on the engine. Could this be true!
Call your local dealer.
in the exhaust pipes just before the catalytic converters
On a 1996 Mercury Cougar ( 3.8 litre V6 and 4.6 litre V8 engines ) Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine Sensor 2 is in the exhaust AFTER the exhaust has passed through the catalytic converter ( downstream sensor , also called catalyst monitor )
Try replacing Catalytic Converter on the opposite side of cylinder 1
there are 3 different cats that you have on the car..the two up front that are manifold to cat, and then the rear cat
That depends on size and how the structure is made, they can range from $20-$200.tHIS 2002 MERCURY COUGAR..I BOUGHT A SET OF THREE..ONLY NEEDED 2 SO I HAVE 2 USED AND 1 NEW HOW MUCH YOU THINK
Two precats - one for each bank, then the larger main cat.
