On the newer vehicles, you push the parking brake down to release the parking brake. Older vehicles have a release handle on the lower left side of the dashboard.
Its the parking brake light.
Do parking and taillights work? If not check fuse--common circuit
If the dashboard and parking light problem is not being caused by a bad fuse, it may be a wiring problem cause by a broken or loose wire. Another possibility is that the bulbs need to be replaced.
The 1992 GMC parking brake release lever can be found on the bottom of the dashboard. Pulling the lever towards the passenger compartment will release the parking brake.

Turn on headlights/parking lights and adjust dimmer control
short in the wire or they are all on one wire
The red exclamation point in a circle is the parking brake indicator.
Fuse should be marked and also control parking and tail lights
