∙ 11y agoMixing the new red antifreeze with the green can cause it to look rusty and will form a sludge. If someone is topping off your antifreeze recovery tank during oil changes with the wrong product could be one cause.

∙ 11y agoDoes it smell like burning antifreeze? Usally it means that the heater-core is going bad. If you do not service it it can be a lot worse. You will end up with Anitfreeze all over you passenger side floor board.
No, antifreeze is green or pink. If your antifreeze is brown (its rust) you to flush and clean your cooling/heating system. No, antifreeze is green or pink. If your antifreeze is brown (its rust) you to flush and clean your cooling/heating system.

Considering that General Motors has several class action suits against them in regards to Dexcool (pink antifreeze) I would flush using the green antifreeze. The best thing to do is go online to bgfindashop.com and locate a shop near you to flush the system. They will add a cleaner and run it then do a reverse flush that will remove all the antifreeze from the system including the heater. Once that is completed they will add a conditioner.
vehicle will overheat. just dump the oil and antifreeze , flush engine and refill with clean oil
dex - cool orange coolant ,any coolant flush
=To properly flush the antifreeze on a 2002 Yukon you will need a antifreeze vacume system you will need to start the car and have it running turn on all the heating modules to high and have the car reved at about 1.5 r.p.m, or a little higher to activate the vaccume this will start sucking the old antifreeze out. When the radiator is empty{you will know when it is empty because there will be no more antifreeze coming out}you can then fill it up with half and half antifreeze[half water half antifreeze].=
It came with "Dex Cool" in it originally. (Red colored fluid). This antifreeze is responsible for softening the seals and causing intake gasket leaks on small block GM vehicles. Flush the dex-cool out as best you can and refill it with antifreeze that is designed to be mixed with either type of coolant. Mixing regular antifreeze with Dexcool unless it states on the container that it is intended to be mixed with it will cause the Dexcool to turn to jello and will plug up your system. Dexcool should be removed and flushed out COMPLETELY before adding any other type of antifreeze.
Purchase a PRESTONE flush kit, radiator flush, and new antifreeze. There is directions on package. You will be splicing a 'tee'into heater hose return line with a garden hose adapter, adding the flush to the radiator, and attaching the garden hose to the tee fitting. After running the engine for about 10 minutes with the flush in it, you will attach a garden hose to the tee and push all the crap right out the rad. Works good. Add antifreeze. Done. I hope this helps you. Mark
You dont Take it to a qualified mechanic for a flush and they will dispose of the old coolant You dont Take it to a qualified mechanic for a flush and they will dispose of the old coolant
You dilute your antifreeze. If you buy prediluted 50/50 antifreeze, then you'll dilute it more than you're supposed to. If you buy straight 100% antifreeze, you're actually supposed to dilute it yourself by adding an equal amount of water to the antifreeze you put it. Your vehicle will be fine. Stop freaking out. Get a coolant flush.
