The ignition switch in a 2004 Pontiac grand am can be installed by first Sliding out old lock cylinder and then Press the small release tab While turning the key to the ON Position.

The ignition lock switch is found under the steering column on a 2004 Honda Civic. Remove the steering column and ignition switch. Loosen the mounting screws that hold the cylinder in place. Pull and replace the lock cylinder.
pull trim around radio, speedometer. pull gauges radio and ac controls there is two screws .pull them. then pull electric wires to get releases cable out the key has to be in on position
i broke the key off in the ignition. got it out and got a new key. now when i try to hook up battery it trys to start even with the run switch off.
To disable a kill switch the wiring would have to be modified to bypass the switch. This is not advisable as the switch is a safety feature.

I had the same problem with my Grand Am and there is a recall on the ignition switch. I had to take the vehicle to an authorized GM dealer and they replaced it for me at no cost.
On my 2000 Grand AM SE the switch is in the dash above the radio (behind the hazard indicator button). You can remove the plate covering this part of the dash by prying around the edges.
