If a Lincoln LS V8 is making a engine noise when it is shifted into drive or reverse, it could indicate a seized gear in the transmission. It could also indicate a low transmission fluid warning.
Probably needs a new Idle speed sensor
Because reverse is a lower ratio gear than drive and puts less load on the engine.
You have to get the engine looked at.
the Lincoln mark viii is rear wheel drive and the conti is front wheel drive so to answer your question... no they will not interchange, but many engine parts will
I had my 00 eclipse gt automatic do this. took it to mr transmition and they cleared codes that popped up and it stopped. if i drove forward for a while and warmed the car up, then reverse would work. hope this helps.
sounds like the auto transmission has a fault
You do this by pouring transmission fluid into the tube that your transmission dipstick is in. To check for fluid level, drive the car for a few miles to make sure everything is warmed up, then park on a level spot, with the engine running, put the transmission in drive, then in reverse, then in park. With the engine still running, remove the dipstick and wipe it clean, and reinsert it, then remove it again and check the fluid level.
buy a mercedes
it will drive but when in reverse it wont move
Engine idle too high.
The same problem with my Lincoln town car. When disassembled the transmission, it was evident that the reverse piston did not move, "valve body" can not reverse the piston to move. All valves tested by documentation. I can not understand the problem!
