I had a similar experience with my 1987 Chevy Celebrity. In my car's case I replaced the ignition module and the crankshaft position sensor. Between the two the problem seems to be fixed.
Its probably your timing chain or belt
To answer your question I need to know the year model of your Chevy Celebrity as well as the engine that it has in it.1996 chevy calavlier 2.2
check your fuses
Does the engine have spark? White fumes could possibly be fuel vapor.
Please upgrade to a Nissan product. Thank you.
Timing Advance not working or fuel sensor messed up.
Check the ECM Electronic Control Module, under the distributor cap If its bad sometimes it wont start or it will and then die
did you check your battery and alternator?
that sounds like its not getting propper fuel. on an 87.....Probably the carburator.
You are missing fuel or spark.
I was told it could be bad fuel pump.
