The gas gauge sensor is most likely stuck. It is inside of the tank and over time it will get corroded.
Most Likly a fuel sender problem
i would recommend getting gas when that happens. perhaps take it to the mechanic to fix the gauge
to read a oil tank you have to get a oil stick that its long and then put it in the oil tank
Bad sending unit. This is what reads the tank level and sends it to the gauge.
The gauge or sensor needs to be replaced.
Failed gauge, wiring, or level sensor.
Sounds like the transfer pump in the rear tank is bad and you are running out of fuel in the front tank. The fuel gauge reads both tanks and gives you an average between the two. So, if the front tank is empty and the rear tank is full the gauge will read aprox a half tank.
it could be your fuel sending unit or the float in the tank less likely your gauge is bad but that could also be the problem
A faulty fuel gauge sending unit.
check for a damaged fuel tank
Forget formula - put a gauge on it and read it.
