They really aren't, they got a government contract to make the hum v for the military at around $200,000 a pop, they mechanically wise are no different than an f350 or Chevys 3500 series with light armor to help protect troops, now the gunners we see on the street aren't special at all, proof being that they are now out of business.
Second Opinion:
The military Hummer, HMMWV or Hum Vee is nothing like a F350 or Chevy 3500. They also did not cost $200,000. The U.S. Army contract was for 55,000 vehicle at 1.2 billion dollars or $21,818 per vehicle. It has 16" of ground clearance yet is only 72" high and 7" wide. It will climb a 60 % slope and 40% side slope. It will Ford 60" of water. It has torque biasing differentials allowing it to move with only one wheel having traction. Tire pressure is adjustable from the drivers seat while on the move with run flat tires. The body is made of aluminum. 4 wheel disc brakes mounted inboard against the sides of the differential upward between the frame rails. There is lots more that is too numerous to mention including an outstanding diesel engine. No, the Hummer or Hum Vee as the military calls it is way more than any normal Ford or Chevy truck.
Overhaulin' - 2004 CNN Hummer Special 4-13 was released on: USA: 2006
The Hummer H2 was produced by General Motors starting in 2003. They were manufactured until 2009 in a special factory in Indiana.
A hummer is a fellaito; so if I wanted it I would ask your sister.
The Hummer H1 has not been made since 2006. General Motors has also put a end to the Hummer brand so it is unlikely the H1 will be made again soon.
I assume you mean Hummer. No, a Hummer is not a Jeep. The Hummer or Humvee replaced the Jeep in the U.S. Military.

William Hummer's birth name is William Bruce Hummer.
The defintion of an RC HUMMER H2 is a toy radio controlled Hummer H2. A Hummer H2 is a large SUV resembling the Hummer tanks that they use in the army. It is actually the 2nd Hummer that was manufactured and although the Hummer H2 is smaller than the first one it is still very large.
