The brake light on most vehicles is not only an indicator that the parking brake is on, but that there is a problem with the system.
usually the parking brake sensor is malfunctioning [or the fluid is low check this first]
The brake light switch is under the dash, and whenever the brake pedal is touched the brake light comes on. If the switch has failed or is out of adjustment it will leave the brake light on.
Check brake fluid level Check to see that emergency brake is fully released
The ABS computer has detected an electrical or mechanical malfunction. You need to have it checked for codes.
there is asensor on the rear diff...replace that and you should be ok
One possible reason is that the brake linings are worn to the point that they need to be replaced. This is meant to be an early indicator of brake wear.
my brake light stay on but emergency brake is unhooked
Typically the light will remain on if the fluid is low, or maybe the ebrake just pulled just enough that it is on..... or the switch that is triggered by the handle is faulty
Replace Alternator
Brake Lights Don't Turn OffUsually this issue is caused by an improperly adjusted brake light switch. Sometimes it could be a defective switch, but this is rare.
