If the car is not getting any fuel, it will not run.
Most modern cars require you to have the "Special" key with the remots functions on it to run the car. If it a seperate key fob remote you should not need it.
I'm guessing you have a car with 195,000kms and you want to know how long it will last. If it's a corolla i'd say another decade; neon I'll give it a year. Like anything maintenance is key. If the car's taken care of it will last a lifetime.
Have you tried changing the ignition switch?
Yes, unless some one has change the start/run key relay or door entry cylinder.
i think there is no legal way to run your car with a key that has no chip... it can only be used to open the door... ;-((
Stuck relay or the starter is wired incorrectly.
The car is equiped with a security feature that will automaticall shut down the engine when activated. Your ignition key has a resitor chip on it, and when you insert the key into the ignition the computer measures the resistance to make sure it is the right key. If someone tries to start the car with a key that does not have the right resistance it will not start. If your key gets wet or if moisture builds uo inside the ignintion switch, it will slightly alter the resistance and the computer may not let the car start. If the resistance is close, the car will still run but the security light will remain on.
A key not programed for the car will cause the computer to lock out and not allow the car to run. Many cars require a visit to the dealer to be reset if this happens. If this is what you mean by damage then yes
It's an emergency "wallet" key. Basically, BMW made it really small and lightweight, so if you lose your original keys (or lock them inside your car) you can still open it if you've stashed the "wallet" key in your purse or wallet. f.y.i. only use it in a EMERGENCY. i used it when i run marathons and it cracked in the igintion and i cound not start the car.
