Pretty wide open question and the possibilities are endless. Likely either no spark or no fuel pressure. My first guess would be fuel. Find the schrader valve in the fuel rail. It will look very similar to the A/C fittings on the older R-12 AC systems that were used prior to 1994. When you turn on the ignition switch, the fuel pump should run for a couple seconds and then press in the schrader valve. You should get a good spray. If there is no pressure or only a little dribble, then the fuel pump is not running. Not likely that the fuel pump would go bad before 100K miles. Also Chrysler products are noted for the fuel pump relay going bad. If you find that you have good fuel pressure, then you need to check for spark. If you have no spark, that opens another can of worms and many possibilites, but most likely the ignition module or the Hall Effect pick-up coil. Not sure if you have a crankshaft position sensor but that is a good possibility. Good Luck
Answerif the engine doesnt turn over but attempts to start, the engine may not be getting spark or there may be no gas to combust. There might be a lack of compression in the cylinders and a compression test will tell you if theres a leak. This is a wide open question (as are most on this site) and we need more specific informationThere are a few things that it could be if you Dodge Stratus wont start on first try. It could be the starter.
Dodge Stratus
The Dodge Stratus might not start because the battery is dead or the starter is worn or damaged. It might not start because it is out of gas or because the fuel line has water or air in it.
jump start it.
It's a dodge so yes it would tra-tu s tart
For my Dodge Stratus, I have to hold down the off button on the remote for 3-5 seconds, the alarm stops going off, but the engine still will not turn on. Then I hold down the off button again for 3-5 seconds and it normally will start after that.
Yes, just about any sensor on the engine could cause a no start.Yes, just about any sensor on the engine could cause a no start.
i hit he curb and put a hole in the oil pan ,i replace the oil pan now the engine cranks but doent start. what could be the problem
Assuming the battery and starter crank the engine, check for fuel and spark. You are probably missing one of those.
If your 1996 Dodge Stratus wonÕt start you can try to jump start the car. There is no reset button like a computer. You can recharge your car battery with a jump start.
Start by checking at your local junk yard or car parts yard. You could also get one from a dodge car dealer. Also watch the classifieds or check somewhere like craigslist.
There are several possibilities. One is that the fuel pump is not sending enough fuel to the engine. Or that it is not sending any fuel at all. Or, it means you are simply out of gas.
