This may be one are multiple problems, First the ignition key can go bad and stop your vehicle from running, It has a built in sensor and if the key is not sending its signal the vehicle will not start it will just turn over with no start. Secondly it may be a computer ECM problem I sugest turning the key on then back off then return it to the on position for one hour this will restart your ECM. If vehicle turns over with spark then you have a possible fuel delivery problem, if you have fuel and no spark you may have a ignition fireing problem, coil packs ignition module, crank sensor etc. Check all these problems and you will be able to narrow it down.
My envoy did this also when the battery died. installed new battery and key came out.
The airbag light in the 2003 GMC ENVOY can be reset by disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes. Then reconnect the battery, turn the key to on without starting the vehicle, and pump the gas pedal three times if the light is still on after reconnecting the battery.
Check the starter.
Change oil pump 2003 Gmc Envoy
Unplug the battery for five minutes, if that don't work get your truck serviced something is wrong.
how many gallons of gass will a 2003 GMC Envoy hold
The battery light comes on when the alternator is not charging. Changing the battery did nothing. Either put a gauge on the battery to see if it is charging, or while running, disconnet the positive cable from the battery. If the car dies that means the alternator is not charging. Most parts stores will check it for free. Oriely's , Autozone, etc.

From what I have been reading, it is a faulty ignition switch. Looks like it has happened to several people too. It can also be the alternator is defective.
