To clean fuel injectors on a 1997 S10, first disconnect fuel pump from fuel injectors. Disconnect pressure regulator and connect the cleaning kit to the fuel port.

it could be the fuel pressure regulator on the back of your fuel rail or your injectors If it runs fine once you have primed it, I would suspect the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor is faulty. It should also have 60 t0 66 psi fuel pressure to operated properly.
