The VW Amarok gets 33 MPG and is 4 door 4 wheel drive Diesel. But it offers too much competition for the domestics and so it will not be sold in North America. Just the rest of the world. Once again the consumer nations choices are limited by the powerful few.
Considering that a diesel pickup truck can't use gas I would say that there aren't any diesel trucks that get good gas mileage. If you were wondering which diesel truck gets the highest miles per gallon then I would say you should look at the Dodge Cummins diesel.
A truck gets about 20 mpg.
The best gas mileage truck is the 2011 Ford F150's which get 23 MPG on the highway with the V6 engine.
Diesel power vehicles get the best MPG while towing. That is what they were designed to do with there low end toque. The diesel motor is also more efficient then the gas motor. Most diesel truck while towing still get better MPG then there gas counter part that is not towing.
No one truck, no one answer. It will depend on the fuel mileage for the truck in question.
The average full sized diesel pickup truck gets about 26 miles to the gallon which is about 10 miles to the gallon more than a gas truck. This is due to the fact that the diesel engine is far more efficient then the gas.
Well this would depend on what size of pick up truck you are referring to but the top ten best gas mileage pick up trucks of 2011 list the Dodge Ram 1500 as most fuel efficient.
I have been trying to find the answer to this for a long time. The best is the Volkwagon caddy from the early to mid 80's 45 mpg. As far as full size trucks go the dodge cummins manual transmission, single cab short bed seems to be the best.
Find out the distance in miles from a map, then divide by 12, the answer is in gallons.
diesel.
The 2010 diesel will not get good mileage. 14-16 on the highway and 10-12 around town. The gas (I assume your talking v10) will get you about 9-10 around town and 13-15 on the highway. If you want better mileage I would go for a 2011. The new 6.7 diesel gets much better mileage (up to 20+ on the highway in some cases)
10 mile/gal We have a new 2011 F-250 diesel and it gets around 16 mpg avg, and around 19 mpg on highway.
