Nope 98-94 is one model. 95 starts a new design.

The thermostat is located on the right side of the engine looking in, in between the intake manifold and the air filter box, underneath the wiring. This is in a 1994 Ford Probe GT 6 cylinder

the thermostat is located under the thermostat housing on the front of the motor where the top rad hose connects to.
Yes a bad thermostat would cause overheating in any car. A thermostat regulates the temperature.

If you look at the drivers side. It is right behind the distributor. If you run the lower radiator hose you will see the neck with two 12mm bolts that hold it on and the thermostat is behind there.
follow the coolant hose that goes under the distributor.
