This guy is mostly right, but these cars only have one (1) bolt holding the thermostat housing on, you have to take the piece of plastic trim off the intake that has "Fuel Injection 3800" embossed in it to get to the thermostat. As you're putting the thermostat housing back on wiggle it a little as you're tightening the bolt to mske sure it goes in all the way.
Not very easily if at all, and why would you want to?
there should be a sticker under the hood of the car that tells you what the gapping should be. .60
The mass air flow sensor is located in the throttle body housing on the 3800 engine. There should be 4 screws that hold it down to the housing. Once they screws are removed, the sensor lifts off of the throttle body.
on the crank behind the front cover
Had the same problem years ago, same year, model. Found the cable at NAPA auto supply, about $30, much cheaper than the GM dealer. Couldn't do the replacement myself, had to have a mechanic do it (it was a B***H). Still cheaper in the long run this way.
it's located on the firewall right in back of the intake
The 3.8 engine is similar in all the grand prix 97 to 2003 Follow the top radiator hose to the top of the engine, the place it bolts up to should be your themostat. Remove the hose, take the bolts out (usually two) put the new one in with a new gasket and bolt it back together. For thermostat replacement step by step instructions with pics- http://www.pfyc.com/supportfiles/tstat/tstat.htm Hope this helps. "G"
A haynes manual...
3.8 litres is fractionally more than 1 US gallon.
They always blow the head gaskets between 70 and 100 thousand miles.
You can safely put 2ml into the 10l aquarium
If you mean 3.8 Litre engine, the answer is 200 horsepower, from the factory. 225 lb/ft of torque.
