The Power Steering reservoir on all Grand Prix GTs and GTPs 1997-2003 is located at the front of the engine (passenger side of the vehicle, as the engine is transverse mounted) near the firewall. Looking at the engine from the passenger side, identify the alternator, and approximately 3 inches directly underneath the alternator is the power steering reservoir cap. don't believe you can physically see the cap on the reservoir unless you remove the coolant recovery reservoir, so it will require a bit of feeling around the first time, but once you find it the first time, you won't ever forget! Hope this helps!
Power Steering Reservoir. ok now exactly where is this located...lol
To locate the power steering reservoir, please watch this video in youtube by YMSCanadian: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quU4QiXTUx0
The power steering fluid reservoir is located next to the oil filter on a 1999 BMW 540i. The reservoir will have ATF written on it.
At the power steering reservoir.
the filter is built into the power steering reservoir . the filter cant be replaced separately . the reservoir itself should be replaced.
In the powers steering pump reservoir.
In the rear of the engine compartment on the left side
Just right below the oil filter casing.
firewall passanger side down low.
Driver's side of the engine compartment with a light green cap.
Upper left engine compartment. Little yellow reservoir, with wide cap, no dipstick, but has mesurements on side of reservoir.
If it is whining when turning, then air may be trapped in the lines. Sometimes filling the reservoir and turning the steering wheel back and forth will bleed the air out. Sometimes not. If bleeding the air out doesn't work then it may be a bad power steering pump. Check the pulley too.
