The fill plug, drain plug are both on the back side of the transfer case facing the rear drive shaft. They are the two biggest nuts on that side of the transfer case. I have yet to determine what size the plug actually is I'm guessing either a 1 3/16 or a 1 5/32, since a 29mm or a 30mm will not fit it.
i believe its dextron 3 and you take out the top plug on the rear of the transfer case and fill it up until it runs out put in plug and your done
check to see if your transfer case has to much fluid in it . remove upper plug .
on the top of the transmission its on the transfer case with 3 vacuum lines coming out of it.
its a dextron fluid so its red
Factory says- Dextron- II
The speedometer cable on a 1989 S10 is behind the steering wheel. The speed sensor is mounted on the transfer case tailshaft.
there are many things that could potentially be wrong with your case. can u engage your 4wheel?
The transfur case is hanging on the back of the transmission, The rear driveshaft comes from the rear end and goes into the transfur case.
With a manual transmission, manual transfer case, or four button electronic transfer case (which has a neutral position), yes. Otherwise, you would have to disconnect the driveshafts.
If it's a 4x4 with a manual transfer case, you can do this by putting the transfer case in neutral. If it has a manual transmission (either 2x4 or 4x4), you can do this by putting the transmission in neutral. If it's an automatic and it doesn't have a manual transfer case, you would have to remove the driveshaft(s).
