I was looking at one of the Ford websites and it shows that for a 2001 Mercury Sable 24 valve ( the " Duratec " ) and for the 12 valve ( the " Vulcan " ) they both use ( 1 ) coil pack that has six towers on it ( both engines use the Motorcraft DG-485 ignition coil pack )
On a 2002 Mercury Sable : I assume the coil pack towers are numbered the same as any other Ford / Mercury six cylinder coil pack that I have seen : coil---3 - 4 pack--2 - 6 plug---1 - 5 ------------------------------------------------------------------ Also the engine cylinder locations on your V6 Mercury Sable are numbered : firewall 1-----2-----3 4-----5-----6 front of vehicle > driver The firing order is ( 1 - 4 - 2 - 5 - 3 - 6 )
No , it has the Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ( EDIS ) with a coil pack that has ( 6 ) towers
The coil "pack" is a single component - even though the common name could lead you to think otherwise. It's more descriptive in a technical sense than the practical. So you purchase a coil that serves all 6 cylinders. (about $60-85) See "Related Questions" below for more about coils...
There is not a single "coil" as in the old days. Each pair of cylinders gets their own coil, which are all bundled together into a single coil *pack*.You'll find the coilpack at the other end of the sparkplug wires.See "Related Questions" below for more about coilpacks, wires & sparkplugs
No , coil pack
HOW DO YOU TEST THE COIL PACK ON A 1995 MERCURY MYSTIQUE DOHC 6 CYL.
A 2001 Chrysler Town and Country has one coil pack.
6 ========================================================== The above answer is correct if you have the 3.0 liter DOHC , DURATEC V6 engine in your 2004 Mercury Sable --------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have the 3.0 liter VULCAN V6 ( and the flex fuel version ) it has the Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ( EDIS ) and has ( 1 coil pack that has 6 towers for the spark plug wires )
On the 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis , it has the Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system with ( 8 ) individual coils on the 4.6 liter SOHC , V8 engine ( it's not the same , as say , a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis that had ( 2 ) coil packs with four towers on each coil pack and spark plug wires with the Electronic Distributorless Ignition System ( EDIS )
what is the correct coil pack firing order for 2001 olds silhouette 3.4 litre
The coil packs are low on the engine block, behind the radiator fan.
