This is for the 2.2L OHV engine 1997 and earlier. According to Haynes, the 1998 & later 2.2L OHV engines "have an oil/air seperator inside the valve rocker arm cover that requires no maintenance. 2.3L and 2.4L OHC engines are equipped with an oil/air seperator that is attached to the side of the block above the oil filter." As you are standing in front of the car facing the engine, if you look down at the top of the engine it is in the back lefthand corner of the valve cover. You will see a weird looking 1-1 1/4 inch star shaped nut on a round thing that sort of slopes up out of and toward the back of the engine & has about a 4" tube sticking out of it connecting to the fuel injector? assembly. If it is on too tight to loosen with by hand use a channel locks pliers to loosen it. Then pull the tube out & the pcv valve will be inserted into the end of the tube. Simply replace & hand tighten the nut. If you have the Haynes repair manual, the instructions are on page 1-18 with pictures on page 1-19
My wife has a '98 Sunfire and to the best of my knowledge, there isn't a P.C.V valve. (I haven't been able to find it!!) There is no pcv valve on the sunfires year 98 and newer.
It is built into the valve cover and requires no maintance air oil seperator
A bad PCV valve or a problem in the PCV system will cause this
on a 1998 Pontiac gan am ,they do not have a pcv valve.
The PCV valve on a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville is located on the back of the in take manifold, however to get to the PCV valve you will need to remove the valve cover.
When facing the engine, you'll notice two small fittings on either end of the valve cover. The PCV valve is the one on your left. Unscrew the plasic cap and replace the valve.
Where is the fuel idle control valve for a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire
Its in the front valve cover .
The PCV valve on q 2007 Torrent is made into the valve cover. It is not removable, the valve cover and PCV valve must be replaced together.
Cannot locate canister purge valve on a 2001 pontiac sunfire 2.2

the 2.2 engine of 1998 and up don't have PVCAnswerI recently replaced a valve cover gasket on a 98 sunfire, and was looking for the pcv valve. I could not find, even looking in a chilton manual. Eventually I called GM, and that is when I found out they are built in to the valve cover there is nothing to replace. The Elbow that comes out of the top of the valve cover hooks right into the air box. That is what I originally thought was the PVC.
