On the 2.2 engine, it's located at the right (passenger) side of the valve cover on the back side. You'll see a hose going to it. To check or replace it, remove the hose and the metal retaining ring. Remove the valve with a needle nose pliers. Shake it and listen for a rattle. If you don't hear the rattle, it means that the valve is plugged. You COULD shoot some WD-40 into/through it to try to clean it out. Try the shake test again. If this fails, replace the valve. FriPilot

When facing the engine, you'll notice two small fittings on either end of the valve cover. The PCV valve is the one on your left. Unscrew the plasic cap and replace the valve.

the 2.2 engine of 1998 and up don't have PVCAnswerI recently replaced a valve cover gasket on a 98 sunfire, and was looking for the pcv valve. I could not find, even looking in a chilton manual. Eventually I called GM, and that is when I found out they are built in to the valve cover there is nothing to replace. The Elbow that comes out of the top of the valve cover hooks right into the air box. That is what I originally thought was the PVC.
