Fob is short for finger operated button. It is usually used to describe the remote for a car locking system.
car batteries
Usually two things happen. The key is worn out or the lock up is normal because of pressure on the locking system as you turn the key off. Try turning the wheel a half a turn to the right or left when you are parked then turn the car off and remove the key. If its the locking mechanism then this will fix that. If its the key then replace it.
In cars with central locking, or remote locking, a solenoid is fitted to the locking mechanism. When the remote button is pressed (usually on the key) a signal is sent to the central locking control system. The received signal closes an electronic gate in the controller and current from the cars battery is switched to the solenoid on the lock. The force generated locks or unlocks the door as required.
Car replacement keys are available from the dealership from which you purchased your car. Buying a replacement key for your car can be very expensive if your car requires a key that has a computer inside for locking and unlocking the car doors.
A house key, a car key, an 'any' key.
The central locking means if you lock the door of the driver side by the key from outside or from inside then all the four doors and the boot door gets locked. And inversely if you open then all doors open. Key less entry is a bit advanced version of this wherein you don't have to turn the key to lock or unlock. In this a small console is fitted inside the car and you get a remote key chain with buttons for locking and uncloking. You press the button for locking and the all the doors lock and similarly unlock as well.

I think this is a safety measure to keep you from locking your keys in the car. Try locking it with the key after the door is shut.
if locking the car with the key, not with the remote, then yo ucan lock the car and disengage the alarm by turning the key to the left once to lock the car then a second time to disable the alarm.
Turn the key to the locking position on the door lock once to lock the car when locking up. You will hear 4 (or 2 double) clicks. The car has been locked and armed. You should see a red light flashing on the driver's door. Do NOT hold the key in that position. This will cause all the windows to roll up (locking) or roll down (unlocking), so release the key to the neutral position. Turn the key to lock once again and release. You will hear a click, and the red light will stop flashing. The car has been disarmed.
