On this particular model, the low pressure access point is located right near the firewall just to the left of the brake master cylinder. That is where you should connect to. I'm assuming you are using a R-134 hose. If so, you can't go wrong. It will not fit on the high pressure side. (they are different sizes) Good luck.
You can add Freon to your 2001 Buick Century air conditioning system through the low pressure port. The low pressure port can be found on the top of the air conditioner compressor.

Purchase a recharge kit from your local auto parts store. It will come with instructions. Keep in mind if the system is low or empty, it will probably leak out again after you recharge.
Everything takes a different form of Freon. Drain the system if it has not been so prior then add R134a Freon into the coolant system.

You don't add Freon as it has R134a not Freon. You add it to the low pressure side which is the larger hose.
