I know very little about any of this, however I just bought a 1999 Trooper and asked my mechanic exactly this question. Unfortunately, he told me that it has to be checked under the vehicle.
AnswerGo down to where do you pour trans. fluid in a 1996 Isuzu rodeo in this forum AnswerWell let me add my 2 cents. If the vehicle has an automatic transmission, there will be a transmission dipstick tube probably on the left hand side of the engine bay. It would look like an oil dip stick set up.
If the vehicle has a manual transmission (stick shift) than those are filled by removing a bolt from the side of the transmission, putting your finger in to check the levels.
Answer1999 Isuzu Troopers w/automatic transmissions do not come with a dipstick. It is a sealed transmission just like a manual transmission. The fluid must be checked by removing the fill plug. Emergency brake on, engine running, warmed up ,vehicle in neutral. When removing the fill plug ,which is on the side of transmission- at the top, fluid should slightly drip out. If fluid doesnt drip out you need to add fluid. You will need a small hand pump to fill it.1999 Isuzu trooper

Yes. The tranny will not have enough fluid in it!
Automatic is a gm 4l-30e unit.
The sister vehicle of the Isuzu Trooper is the Acura SLX
These transmissions do not have a dipstick, the fluid level is checked by removing a fill plug on the case, similar to a manual transmission.

No they do not match. the 1999 uses and AISIN transmission and the 1995 uses a JATCO transmission.
