Either check with the dealer parts department (might not have it because of the age of it) or check the library for auto repair manuals and see if it is shown in one of them. Library is a great source of info on doing repairs with most of them having repair manuals from various years, makes and models. The cheapest way to get a diagram is to go to the public library and see if they have a manual for your car, many do. If not, I would use alldata.com they are cheap and you can download any information for one car for a year for $25. I had a dealership reject my Caprice for a loose steering coluum and quote me a price of about $700 to fix. Since I knew it wasn't any looser than when I bought the car new, I told them to reject it. I scaped off the rejection sticker and took it to another inspection station and it passed no problem. That was 4 years ago. Can a 84 Chevy caprice classic fit on a 83 Chevy caprice classic
remove the lower shroud on the steering column, and then the 2 bolts that hold the column in place, it should be accessable then.
how do i get the key tu turn in a 1995 caprice classic, if it stuck? It could be the ignition control switch located on top of the steering column which will need to be replaced or the key cylinder itself.
In most cases you will need to replace the turn signal switch on the steering wheel for your 1983 Chevy Caprice Classic rather than fixing it. To replace it, remove the horn pad and then use a steering wheel puller and compressor to remove the steering column. You will then remove the signal along with the wiring harness and bus fuses. Replace the signal and wiring and then replace the steering column itself.
Yes
Repairing a steering column in a 95 Caprice depends on what the problem is. Problems with the tilt could require the outer column to be repaired, while a binding steering might need the u joints to be replaced.
A person can get an exploded diagram of the steering column shifter for this car in its maintenance manual. It can also be found in the repair manual.
