My manual says it is located just above the distributor, but I see one that located towards the back right of the engine screwed into the head, yet my manual says this is the location of the 2.0 liter, yet my 88s10 has a 2.5 (I think) even the auto shop says mine is a 2.5 but based on the location of the temp sender I think it is a 2.0
Didn't mention the year or engine size but temp sending units are generally found close to the thermostat.
Just 1, And that will be on the back top of the engine, just to the right of the distributor.
There are two sensors/sending units. One (the sending unit) is located on the driver's side of the engine block (just below the exhaust pipe). The other is located next to the thermostat housing on top of the engine.
my 1995 Explorer , with the 4.0 L OHV engine has 2 temperature sending units. They are located on the intake manifold by the thermostat housing (where top radiator hose connects to engine) Looking from the front of the vehicle, the temperature sending unit on the left is for the temperature guage in your instrument cluster and the larger temperature sending unit on the right is for the EEC system.
need to know which sending unit you are looking for, there are several sending units on that vehicle.
Water sending unit: Drivers side head up front between the first 2 spark plugs. Oil sending unit is behind the distributor screewed into the top of the engine block.
There is a temp sensor on the water inlet for the PCM, and sending units for the gauge on the side of the heads. Normally part stores don't carry the sending units.
There are several sending units in that vehicle, need to know which one.
Your coolant temperature sending units for your temperature gauge and EEC - V system should be on either side of your thermostat housing at the front of your intake manifold on the 4.0 L OHV engine . ( where the top radiator hose connects to the engine ) When looking from the front of the engine , I believe the sending unit for your temperature gauge is the smaller one to the left of the thermostat housing.
Other then they leak at times. NOTHING
The coolant temperature sending units are near the thermostat housing. The small one is for your temperature guage, the larger one is for the EEC system.
Temp sending units in general (not always) are usually found close to the thermostat.
