Mine are on the passenger side of the engine, mounted underneath the alternator. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to replace them, probably will get at them from underneath. I haven't found a good description of how best to replace them as they are in a difficult spot, and you can't really see the mounting bolts or electrical connections other than the plug wires.
If it has the 2.2L engine, yes.
On the BA falcon 6 cylinder models the coil packs are under the plastic cover between the two camshaft mounds on the rocker cover. There are 6 coil packs, one for each cylinder and each is on top of each spark plug in a coil on plug arrangement. as for the V8's I am unsure.
If it has coil packs, you can't.
need to know what year and engine to correctly answer your question
Only if there is a problem with the coil pack(s).
4.2 L - V6 engine has ( 1 ) coil pack 4.6 L - V8 engine has ( 2 ) coil packs 5.4 L - V8 engine - Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system has ( 8 ) coils 6.8 L - V 10 engine - Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system has ( 10 ) coils
Diagram can be found in the proper Haynes manual, available at most auto parts stores. Coil paks may also be numbered for easy identification.
All Saturn S-series use DIS (Distributorless Ignition System). Instead of a distributor, it uses coil-packs to create spark. These coil packs fire two cylinders apiece and are controlled by the computer.
They are located on the passenger side of the engine. How you get to them is a matter of the degree of contortionist you are. Basically, remove all spark plug wires (number them as you go, according to the coil pack numbers). Each coil pack has 2 nuts, I believe they are 7/32 or 7mm nuts. Pull off the coil packs, install the new ones, replace the wires according the numbers you recorded. Have a nice day. I have found that if you remove the passenger side front tire that you can access the coil packs easier. There is a small flexible panel that you can fold away to reach the coil assembly. How many are there on the 4.3 L Will that explain multiple misfire code?
You don't. 3rd generation Cavaliers use distributorless ignition. There are 2 coil packs on the D/S of the engine.
