∙ 12y agoYou (most likely) threw a pad, as in the brake 'pad' has separated from the metal plate it sits on that keeps it in it's proper place inside the brake caliper. When your foot's not on the brake pedal there's minimal pressure applied by the caliper by the brake system and that small, constant 'push' from the system is enough to cause the pad so scrape, vibrate and make that lovely grounding noise. When you depress the brake pedal the remainder of the brake pad that's there is being squeezed with immense pressure and essentially unable to produce a noice that sounds like metal lightly grounding.
You might need a new rotor on that corner now, I wouldn't be surprised it the rotor's surface resembles the Grand Canyon.

∙ 12y agothis is usually the indicator that you need new brakes so dont worry just get them replaced problem solved
Are the breaks worn or have they been recently replaced and could need new rotor. check your wheel bearing as well. turning left puts more stress on the right side of the vehicle, this could cause the grinding noise.
I'd have those looked at while your car still stops
the squeeking noise is the " birdt chirpers " letting you know you need new brake pads.
your keys?
When motorcycle brakes lock, they make a light grinding sound accompanied by the loud screeching of the tires. When the brakes lock, the tires are forced to slide along the pavement until the brakes are released on the bike stops.
Your vehicle may have a sticking brake; once you drive it, it unlocks; but this needs to be looked at before the brake is damaged. I hope this helps you. Mark
most likely the brakes, good place to start looking anyway
It sounds like wheel bearings. They make a noise while they're in one position but when you hit the brake, it moves them a little, and the noise stops.
Have your mechanic check the rear bearings for the grinding noise. If the noise is like a rumble strip then the torque converter may be bad. Mark VIII are know for bad torque converters.
Do you have Anti-lock brakes? My sisters van was doing somthing similar, and I found out that the ABS controller was mal-functioning.
there are metal tabs on your brake pads that are designed to rub on the rotor and squeak to let you know the pads are getting thin and need to be replaced this is possibly what your noise is.
