faulty torque convertor.
Actually a faulty torque converter is a possible but least likely candidate. Not enough fluid is more likely, or a badly worn pump not capable of running minmuim pressure at low rpm.
If transmission is hydraulic, could be issues with throttle valve adjustment, or engine vacuum depending on the load and throttle being put on the vehicle at the time of the slip, or stuck pressure regulator valve.
If pressure is controlled by epc (electronc pressure control) solenoid, then epc itself could be failing, or one of the sensors that the TCM (transmission control module) uses to decide what it wants the epc to do, mainly the tps (throttle position sensor) may have failed, or is having wiring issues. Stuck pressure regulator valve is also a possibility
There are several things that can cause your automatic transmission not to go into first gear. The most common cause is low transmission fluid.
Answeri had the same problem of transmission not going into overdrive.i changed my thermostat and it works fine now.give it a try .
Linkage adjust
Automatic transmission fluid would likely cause a standard transmission to overheat and wear the gears at a high rate.
Manual or automatic transmission?
I don't think so. The automatic transmission is controlled by engine speed, vehicle speed and throttle position. A large vacuum leak could effect throttle position, but it would cause other problems more noticable than the effect on transmission shifting. a vacuum leak mpuld not cause trasmission to slip but a band inside transmission would cause the problem
if it is automatic then this would be caused by shift down is not working in transmission
My daughters 1997 Saturn SC2 coupe automatic transmission has no reverse? what would cause this?? and how can i fix it without replacing the transmission.
would an automatic transmission car jerk when shifting after having had a transmission flush
what would cause a knockings noise in my boat 3560- 2004 transmission when in idle goes away when you give it gas
Transmission temp sensor can cause a slip or high rpm before shifting to next gear.
That would be a version of the A4LD automatic transmission
