The cause is almost always an ignition system issue, cyl #2 is most likely getting no spark!
When these ignition components go bad, they can cause misfires:
Spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor; cap, rotor, coil(s), ignitor etc.
It is also possible that the fuel injector for cyl #2 is not spraying!
coil pack, ecm pcu
Bad spark plug, bad spark plug wire
the number one cause of an engine fire would probably be oil leakage.Source: Experience
Bad Plug or coil pack.
new plug needed... old one black and wet? not firing...fouled out.. take old plug to parts store get same numbers on new one
You may need to replace at least the one fuel injector at that cylinder, also. Cleaners added to the gas tank wont help at this point, typically.
Number 1 is the cylinder closest to the timing belt. Mind you: Cylinder #1 is not the first cylinder to fire in the firing sequence.
When you say fire I assume that you are saying that there is not spark, if so then the answer would be that the rest of the car is running off the battery.
First do you have spark at the end of the plug wire for the spark plug to fire. If yes, do you have fuel from the injector. If you have spark, then most likely no fuel. Check the wire feed to the injector. Or, could be possibly a blocked injector.
Usually a bad coil , or plug. if the injector was bad , the computer would have coded for it. But the cylinder 3 coil and plug arent that easy to get to. Its the one at the fire wall
no two cylinder is center pot at the back nearest the fire wall.
What do I do bout a 2 cylinder miss fire on a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse
