There are several reasons that can cause your 1995 Buick Century to quit running. The most common reason is a lack of fuel. A bad fuel pump can cause the engine to quit running.
it may be a defective sending unit or sensor.
Change the fluid and the trans filter; a dirty trans filter can cause this.
If the headlights flash on and off, there may be a problem with the bulbs or fuses. There may also be a problem with the battery connections or wiring.
i had this same problem. changed my fuel pump, gas filter, and found out that there is a fuel pump module a-k-a resistor located in the front right fender behind and under the battery. it burned out. changed it and the car runs like new again.
Like most cars with no "spark" it can be caused by faulty/old cables. Replacing them would be a quick and cheap solution if in fact they are the cause.
Moisture will be the cause for an engine misfire. Depending on the year of the car will have a bearing on the solution. It could be that the plug wires are misfiring due to dampness.
I would have my tires checked for a broken belt or you might have a bolt or a big nail in one of your tires.
