A 97 model does not have ONE. The transmission is controled by the computer.
If it is a 1/2 ton, Then the only one Chevy used is a 4L60E transmission. If it is a 3/4 ton then it will have the 4L80E in it.
That year did not have one on it.
There are many websites that offer information about a 1955 Chevrolet truck. For example one can find detailed information on Wikipedia by looking at the 'Chevrolet pickup truck' category.
try to find one on EBAY and how you change it is look on the internet or look for a manual for a 1990- 2000 truck
The engine oil and the transmission oil both are inside the radiator, the engine oil cooler is at the driver side and the other one is at the passenger side.
It is on the bottom of radiator but you will probably need to remove the two piece shroud to get at it, unless you can get it from under the truck. Sometimes its easier to remove one end of the lower rad hose.
There isn't one.
there isn't one because there is a vent on the top of the transmission.
take out front drive shaft then the rear take out bolts at the rear of transmission unhook all wires and shifter from case belly pan if you have one should be ready to come out good luck not that hard
The 4L80E, Allison 1000, and 6L80E can be swapped in, but it will not be a drop in swap... you would need to do a lot of re-pinning, have the engine ECM reflashed, etc. If you want a drop in replacement, 4L60E is your only option.
There is no difference unless one are the other is a 4-wheel drive. Are if one are the other is a half ton or 3/4 ton truck. If both trucks are 3/4 ton then the transmission's will be a 4l80e If they both are 1/2 tons then it will be a 4l60e transmission. If 0ne is a 4x4 and the other is not then neither trans. will interchange. The center shaft in a 4x4 trans. is longer for the transfur case to bolt up.
