If you have a 1997 to 1998 Mercury Mountaineer or Ford Explorer with a V8 engine, you will have a 4R70W transmission.
No,a transmission on a 2005 mercury mountaineer will not fit on a 2000 mercury mountaineer unless you change the oil message on the mountaineer.
In a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer : ( 4R70W )
how do you change the transmission pump in a 2002 mountaineer
The first model year for the Mercury Mountaineer SUV was ( 1997 )
On a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer : ( No , I believe it is the 5R55S , 5 speed automatic transmission )
on the transmission
4r70w
Starting with the 2002 model , there is no automatic transmission fluid dipstick on the Mercury Mountaineer ( and the Ford Explorer , 4 door )
There is no transmission dip stick for a 2002 mercury mountaineer, fluid will need to be checked from under the vehicle. There is a fill plug on the transmission, remove the plug and fluid level should be up to the level of the plug hole. This is the only year mercury did this in the mountaineer.
On a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer : The automatic transmissions are ELECTRONICALLY controlled , so there is no modulator
I believe that is a 4R70W
According to the 1997 Mercury Mountaineer owners manual : Your 4R70W automatic transmission capacity is ( 13.9 quarts ) * that of couse would be for the transmission , torque converter , lines , transmission cooler , etcetera *
