It uses "Dexcool" Antifreeze. This is the "red" stuff not the green. It is a different formula and cools better. NEVER mix the two together. If you have to flush your system, pour two gallons of "distilled" water after you finish flushing the radiator. This is to remove all the mineral laden water from your block. When you fill the radiator use a 50/50 mix of Dexcool and Distilled water. This will minimize the formation of mineral deposits.
Autozone/ advanced auto usually has antifreeze that goes with either kind. I suggest that.
I would guess it would use BMW blue antifreeze. It has no phosphates.
Phosphate free antifreeze
You should use the Nissan undiluted antifreeze for your Maxima. This would require two gallons of antifreeze to fill the reserve.?æ
The Owner Guide shows Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A ( that would be the green color universal antifreeze )
Originally it would have come from the factory with GREEN colored antifreeze ( meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A )
Regular antifreeze such as, green, or red!
Red, 5 year, do not use DEXCOOL.
It uses phosphate free antifreeze to which is an anti corrosive.
It's the pink antifreeze
Use antifreeze labeled as being "Dexcool approved". It'll typically be orange.
You can use any kind of antifreeze as long as it is a 50/50 mixture. Name brands are probably better to use.
