The oil capacity of an 8.2 L Detroit Diesel engine can vary depending on the specific model and configuration. However, as a general guideline, the oil capacity for this engine is typically around 10-12 quarts. It is important to consult the owner's manual or contact the manufacturer for the exact oil capacity for your specific engine model. Overfilling or underfilling the oil can lead to engine damage, so it is crucial to ensure the correct oil level is maintained.

The VW ADE 1.9 td industrial engine will fit in a 82 diesel vanagon w/ no modifications to the bus, fabrication will need to be done to the air filter, exhaust, oil pickup tube. The transmission will need to be regeared or changed to a gasoline transmission or diesel 5 speed.Hope this helps.

Change the oil.
0.836 litres Recalculated. 1 litre of diesel weights approx 820 grams (ie SG .82) therefore 1KG is approx 1/.82 or 1.22 Litres. Diesel floats on water therefore it's SG must be less than 1 therefore there must be more than 1 litre of diesel per KG.
I don't know how different an '81 is from an '82, but on the '82 there was a peice underneath the engine with air fins that can be unbolted. That peice holds the oil filter.
If the battery tests out to have 82% of it's rated capacity, the battery is on it's way out. I would replace it soon before you get stuck.
