∙ 17y agoSounds like a bad ignition switch. note: the actual "switch" is different from the lock cylinder part. The lock cylinder turns the switch.

∙ 17y agoWhen the key is in the "start" position all accesssories are designed to be "locked out" to concentrate all the available power to the starting circuit. How about the "on" position - do accessories have power at that position? - if not could be a bad ignition switch
needing help on power bill....any suggestions???
Rebuild it. If it's a 97, it must have close to 150k miles.
try pushing tv then power on your remote
Check the fuel pressure regulator, vacuum lines, ignition components, exhaust components.
Same as any car with power steering. You can continue to steer the car but with increased effort.
You may have blown the circuit. Does the circuit work before you connect the adapter? If so perhaps the adapter is faulty.

When the radio is not working lots of other stuff doesn't work either. Try jiggling the keys in the ignition---or pressing back on them in the ignition.
Check for loose connection of positive cable at battery, crankshaft position sensor faulty, or ignition module faulty.
ignition switch...baterry cables...starter...ALARM????
