Putting oil n the wrong place can be a real problem. First, where did it get aded ?

If it was put in the radiator you can drive the vehicle and get it up to temp. Open radiaor cap, slowly, and let it overflow into a catch pan. There will be some coolant but most it will be oil. Discard this properly. Don't let it go down a water /sewer drain, ever.

If the wrong oil was put in a P.S. system purchase a suction bulb from an auto parts place. Suck all the oil out of the P.S. resivoir. Discard properly. Fill resivoir with P.S. fluid. Drive vehicl normally for a few days, repeat till the P.S. oil smells and looks like the fluid in the P.S. jug.

If you put a small amount of the wrong oil in the master brake cylinder resivoir, do the same as above unless you have replaced all or most of the oil in the brakes system. If this has happened, you must get it drained 100% and replaced with the proper brake fluid for you vehicle. Flush the whole system with more fresh brake fluid to make sure it is 100 % DOT 4. Some of the rubber parts & seals can be harmed by the incorrect oil. You may start seeing leaks at the slave cylinders and disc brake caliphers. If it gets that bad, you will need to replace the oil again and replace all slave cylinders and disc brake caliphers and, of course, flush the whole system again with DOT 4. Catch all of this oil & dispose of properly.

What happens if you overfill the oil on my Honda shadow?

Simple, just drain some out. You don't want to drive it that way. could blow some seals. If you want to drain some oil off take a hose and put it in the fill hole. Then put a rag around the hole to keep oil off the motor. Then put your finger over the end of the hose and pull it out and drain hose in to a pail. Repeat until you get to the right level.
