SS is the Super Sport, it has a bigger motor, and it will have a booster gauge and other high performance parts. Impala is just the regular impala with all the stock parts. LS is the Luxury Sport, and they have the sunroof and leather seats and seat warmers and all that good stuff. New and real answer.... all wrong.... the differences are only the emblems, body trim and interior.... the SS had bucket seats and a middle console, and had SS badges, the trim had a different design (sort of like dimes layed out) to the middle rather than painted same with the rear, and SS emblems on the rear fenders. but you can get any options you like with both the Super Sport and Sport Coupe, so there was no differences in engines or any optional parts... it was just a matter of preference... for example you could order a SS with a straight 6 engine if you wanted or a "regular" Impala with a 409 Big Block... and also there was no such thing as a LS in 1964, NO sunroofs, No leather, NO seat warmers, NONE of these things were from 1964
