It is 2 long pieces that fit together and you use the lug wrench as the crank handle - tip your back seat forward and lift the panel behind the seat and you will see the 2 pieces held in place in their holders , the jack and lug nut wrench are behind the removable plastic panel in the drivers rear of the cargo area ( at least it is on the 4 door ) Also , if the Explorer has air suspension , there is a shut off switch in the same compartment to shut the system off before raising any wheels off the ground

Under the hood is a long crank. When you open the back door, a small hole is exposed in the bottom edge. Put the crank in to the hole and you can crank the spare tire down. There should be a page explaining this attached to the jack.
