They are the engine serial number and the suffix code. The suffix codes can easily be decoded. For example, a CRV suffix code is a 454, 450 HP, 4-speed transmission. If the serial numbers that precede "CRV" match the VIN of the car, then you have a numbers matching LS6 4-speed car.
Locate the small flat pad area on the front passenger side of the block just below the front passenger side of the head. You may need to clean that area to see the stamped ID numbers. Post all the letters and numbers you find on that pad and we can decode them for you.
The engine ID numbers are found on a machined pad just under the front of the passenger side cylinder head. Post those numbers and letters and we can help you identify the engine.
