You fill the car with gas, you use up all the gas, then you fill it up again!
A bad sending unit in the gas tank.
Definitely! I had this problem diagnosed and found that the gas gauge is fine, but the internal float sticks and this is a common problem. Obviously the "Check Engine Soon" comes on because of this and the gas gauge is almost always incorrect.
Wiring or sender unit in the tank.
Your gauge could be bad but sometimes the floats in the gas tank get holes in them and fill with gas. this causes the float to stay at the bottom and your gauge to read empty. U might also check the wiring from the sender at the fuel tank to the gas gauge itself.
Have had this happen periodically in my
Bad fuel level sending unit.It is located in gas tank.Tank must ne dropped to replace. Can get units from local auto parts stores.
This is a common malfunction that happens when the vehicle gas tank runs out of fuel.
Some gas gauges read overfull when you fill the gas tank because the needle goes past the full mark on the gauge. A bad sending unit, bad level sender, or stepping motor may be the cause of the gas gauge not working properly.
no power at the sending unit.
Stick the tank like in a gas station. lc
Clogged fuel filter, defective fuel pump, blown fuel pump fuse, defective fuel pump relay, or it is out of gas and you have a faulty fuel gauge.
