I have a 1990 and factory setting for base timing is 10 degrees, I believe.
1965 Ford Mustang 170 cid, Spark plug gap, .034. Points gap, .025. Dwell, 37-42. With standard transmission, timing is 6 degrees BTDC. With automatic transmission, timing is 12 degrees BTDC.
10 degrees BTDC
6 degrees BTDC.
10 degrees btdc
timing on my 283 4-barrel is 8 degrees btc.
For plugs i'd try em out with .30 with your points type or .45 if you went to an HEI. Gap for points, leave em be from the day they were new i'd say. The spark plug gap is .035. The point setting is 017 or 30 degrees dwell. The timing with the vacuum advance disconnected is 4 degrees.
I believe it is 10 degrees BTDC
6 degrees before top dead center.
5 degrees BTDC. remember to set the idle to 800rpm for automatic transmission and plug the vacuum advance ose before setting the timing.
Timing is controlled by the computer and is not adjustable. The distributor, if equipped, is set to 0 degrees with the scan tool. This can not be done with a timing light.
