I'm not a mechanic so this is strictly a layman's diagnosis...my 97 Sunfire had the same problem develop a year or two back (thank GOD for mild winters in the northeast). I would turn on the rear defrost swtich on the dash...the light would come on...but no defrosting on the back window. I checked the fuse...it was fine. A friend had a circuit checker (I don't know the official name...bascially a metered voltage tester with negative and positive wires for checking the completion of the circuit.) I removed the connections at both sides of the window and checked with the tester...there was a connection between the two. I haven't narrowed it down farther than that. At least in my case it appears to be within the wiring itself and that can be anywhere from the back window back to the dash...and tracking that down would be difficult on your own and I suppose expensive at a shop.
Don't know, would like to know.
The antenna is located in the rear window. You can see the lines at the top (they look like the defrost wires) and the connection is on the interior of the window, at the top in the middle.
how to check fuse for horn in a 1998 Pontiac sunfire
what is the specification of the cram shaft of sunfire 1998, motor 2.4
There are a couple of reasons why a window won't go up on a 1998 Malibu. The window may be off track or the window motor has stopped working.
To the best of my knowledge, this is no carburetor on any Sunfire. I believe that they were all fuel injected.
the 98 sunfire haz a 57.2 litre gas tank
The Window - 1998 was released on: USA: 1998 (limited)
I believe 1995 through 2005 fenders are all the same. Surely a 1996 and 1997 fender will fit a 1998 model.
Tell me if just one window or all of them quit working
