If its not leaking more then likely is the the idler or tension for the serpentine belt
look deeperIf it is a chirp or squeal noise, spray a little belt dressing or a little brake clean, silicone etc. on the inside and outside surfaces of the belt while it is running. If it stops you need a belt.If the noise is a growl, Take the tension off the belt and remove the belt. Spin the water pump pulley and feel for roughness. It should be smooth. Compare it the other pullies and feel for roughness. Spin them quickly and listen for roughness. Answercheck the belts and the idler/tensioner pulley and bearing combo...could be that...also...everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the local library should have a professional shop manual available, to make copies of, in the Reference section...good luck:)
AnswerThis is my question. I'm just adding more to it. I already replaced the serpentine belt. The noise quiets down when I turn the A/C on (with new and old belt). Could this be a sign of water pump replacement? The car does not overheat. ALSO, when my A/C is on MAX, it blows but then after awhile it kinda starts to drizzle, then it kicks back in. Could that have anything to do with it too? -THANKS!-Thanks.It is very hard to turn the steering wheel and/or a whining or squealing noise when you turn the steering wheel.
ChecksIf it is a front wheel drive car, better check the wheel bearings, they sound kind of dry and you don't want them coming loose while driveing, ,,if it is a rear wheel drive, you might check the wheel bearings and check the differential and make sure it has differential oil in it
Bad fan clutch!!
If it is making noise, this was thought to be a problem with this particular car. The placement of the fuel pump makes noise that can be heard in the passenger compartment. If you don't hear the fuel pump, then you've got problems.
when the pump is going out it will make a humming noise from the bearings even if the resivore is full.
Low power steering fluid level? Power steering pump going bad?
A ticking or clicking sound is probably lifter noise, the valves need adjusting
If the noise is coming from the engine area, it is most likely a loose and/or worn drive belt. Try pouring water on the belt when it makes the noise. If noise goes away, then suspect a belt.
It is more than likely that the clicking noise is just the sound of the fuel injectors intermitently squirting fuel into the cylinder. Yes, this is normal.
The most likely problem is warped rotors. Have rotors turned or replaced. Replace front brake pads.
Joyful Noise is coming out on DVD in June 2012
there is a rattling noise in the area of the serpentine bell
