2002 jeep liberty part time light wont turn off
There is a malfunction in the circuit that runs the light. Could be with the switch on the transfer case, in the wiring, or in the cluster.

Either yo have shifted into four wheel drive, or there is a malfunction in the four wheel drive system.
That is 4 wheel drive. You are allowed to drive in that range on slippery surfaces.
AnswerI have the same issue with my '03 Jeep Liberty Renegade. I let a mechanic look at it... it seems there's some sort of sensor to be replaced. Expensive! I'm not mechanically inclined and will not be able to install this myself. It must be a "Jeep" thing : )
top front of transfer case
Part time is the type of four wheel drive where the front and rear axles are directly locked together in the transfer case. It is meant to be used "part of the time". such as on ice or mud. Full time has a gear set in the transfer case that allows the front and rear to turn at different speeds. It can be used "full time" or all the time.
Begin by removing the 2002 Jeep Liberty shift console retaining bolts. Lift the shift console up and the light bulb will be visible. Take hold of the light bulb, push in and turn at the same time to remove it. Reverse the process to install your new shift console light bulb.

For my Liberty it took about 3 hours (with all equipment).
