yes, there was a recall on instrument panel. specifically the speedometer/odometer would malfunction... I received the recall in the mail and had it taken care of at dealer with no cost
The 2006 Chevrolet Impala had recalls on the 979 steering knuckle and the manual passenger seat adjuster. The steering knuckle recall is due to the possibility of a broken steering knuckle causing a loss of steering.
You don't, you take it to the dealer if you have a problem with it. That car has a recall because it has had a lot of previous problems. The power steering is bad.
Check the recall on the problem with the power steering pinion shaft....maybe what u need instead recall #02v286000 (try motor trend.com or google it)
I have a 2006 Ion - the power steering went out. My dealer said that this was a common problem - Saturn was working on a recall. They took care of replacing the steering column - no charge.
no recall, but there was a bulletin. wasn't recalled because they determined that it wasn't a safety issue, rather and "inconvenience." there is a replacement for the intermediate steering shaft that eliminates the clunking/ratcheting feeling.
If you have a 6 speed and the steering wheel is unlocked then the only problem is you have to reset the message everytime. Assuming you had the dealer remove the lock pin in the column during the recall. Automatic Vette models is another problem where the steering could lock up.
There is a recall on that item, they should fix it free.
More than likely the electric steering motor under the steering column. If your are in the UK, go to a dealer and get them to use the examiner to check. There were units that were superseded by Fiat for failing (NOT a recall!)
If I recall properly you can just drop the column down onto the seat but you might want to remove the steering wheel just to be safe in the event that there is not enough clearance. Don't forget if its an automatic to remove the little string that operates the PRNDL indicator.
I just received a notice in the mail for the reclass of the instrument panel on my '04 Chevy avalanche. I am glad this has come, I have been driving over 120 MPH for weeks now!
There was actually a recall for the power steering. It is covered by the dealership and should be fixed at no cost to you. The recall said the power steering assist will go out and the power steering light will go on.
