If you really want a 4 wheel drive Dakota, you are better off buying it that way.
YES IT CAN BE DONE BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE A ETHER A 4WD BLAZER OR S10 THE FRAME IS 2 PEICES WELDED TO GATHER THERE ARE 2 DIFFIRNT FRONT FRAME HALFS 4WD AND 2WD JUST SAPARATE THE TO HALFS AND PUT THE 4WD HALF ON YOUR FRAME AND THEN SWITCH THE REAR END FROM THE 4WD TO THE 2WD AND YOU HAVE A 4WD
Sell it and buy one that is 2wd.
2WD: 185 4WD: 123
It is possible....but extremely frustrating and expensive without a donor vehicle. GET A DONOR VEHICLE !!!!! You will be money and time ahead.
Change the tail shaft of the tranismission from a 4WD tail shaft to a 2WD tail shaft and use a 2WD tail housing.... The 4WD transmissions has shorter tail shafts and tail hounsing, while the 2WD has a longer tail shaft and tail hounsing.
If same engine and same 2wd/4wd, then yes.
Yes, it would be cheaper to buying a new one but I've sunken a lot of money into my ride already...so is there a way to convert it from 2wd to 4wd from someone who h\knows how to?
Only if you swap the back half of the trans from the 4wd to the 2wd.Only if you swap the back half of the trans from the 4wd to the 2wd.
Same year, same 2wd or 4wd, then yes
In all honesty, the best way to convert from 2wd to 4wd is to sell the 2wd and buy a 4wd. You will spend more to do a conversion than the Amigo is worth.
The transmission is not a 2wd or 4wd. There is way more to it than just changing transmissions or final drive units. This is a really bad idea. Sell this truck and purchase a 4wd. Look under a 4wd Chevy truck and compare it to your 2wd. You will easily see that the components necessary to convert a 2wd to 4wd are many. Forget this idea.
