check the serpentine belt tensioner for being bad, it might not be keeping the drive belt tight enough against the pulleys.
Chances are the Timing gears or pulleys are not properly aligned. The Cam shaft and the Crank shaft must be aligned properly so that the valves and pistons are "in sync"
Sometimes the Timing belt tensioner will cause a tap or click until the engine is warm.
