The Answer is YES They are very excellent cars, my grandparents own a 2001 Chevy Lumina with 168,000 miles on it and it still runs like a champ, the only thing you got to worry about is the gaskets, breaks, and electrical. The Luminas have a past of having horrable gasket, so you might need to get the changed, the breaks are very good, but gotta check em, and the electrical is very good, but one time we tried to plug in a car tired pump into the cigarette lighter 4 times, and we blew all the fuses, for the cigarette lighter. But fuses dont cost hardely anything, so I say they are very good cars, and a good first car!
