Could be many things. The compressor might be broken--try running the car with the AC off. Have a helper watch the AC compressor and watch to see if the compressor tries to engage when you turn the AC on. The system might be low on refrigerant--only certified mechanics will be able to refill it, so you might as well take it in and get it checked out. You may have an electrical problem in the switch assembly, or harder to find still, you might have a cabin thermocouple that is telling the thermostat that the car is freezing cold, so the AC never needs to come on.

I don't have an answer but I do know that my 2002 QX4 blew but didnt cool and I replaced a fuse and it cooled but it wouldn't stop blowing. The situation now is, if the AC if "off" the air blows whatever temp it is outside, as it's Texas ,that usually means HOT. If you turn the AC "on" the air will cool. The only "PIA" is that the speed stays on high regardless of whether the AC is on or not, this can be very annoying. So, if you find out how to turn that blower down, please respond. :)

All it is is the freon coolant has run out on the ac. You can either take it to any discount tire, firestone, or just brakes and they can refill it for about $100. Or you can get the freon from any automotive store or walmart for about $30 and do it yourself.

There is an AC fuse in the little box located on top of the battery. There are three fuses. If you are standing at the front of the car looking over the engine I believe it is the fuse on the left. 30 amp I think.
